Central and peripheral beta-adrenergic control of gastrointestinal motility in sheep.

چکیده
Introduction Some effects of 13adrenoceptor agonists on gastrointestinal motility have been investigated in monogastric species (Burks, 1987). Several side effects of /3-blockers are mediated through the central nervous system which is involved in the control of gastrointestinal motility. This study was undertaken to determine the central and peripheral actions of /3!and P2agonists on forestomach, abomasal and intestinal myoelectrical activity in sheep.

Mechanisms controlling feed intake in ruminants: a review.
The purpose of this paper is to review our understanding of the involvement of central and peripheral factors in the control of feed intake in ruminants. The regulation of body weight under various states of energy need depends on an animal's ability to control feed intake to meet these needs. In the central nervous system (CNS), the ventromedial and lateral hypothalamus appear to be the areas ...
متن کاملPeripheral and central effects of dexrnedetomidine, a specific alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, oil phasic and tonic pain
Recently, vast studies have been focused on the antinociceptive and anesthetic effects of α2 adrenergic receptors, using specific drugs such as medetomidine and dexmedetomidine. In the present study, we tried to assess the peripheral and central effects of dexmedetomidine in phasic and tonic pain, on rats, using tail flick and formalin tests. Dexmedetomidine, administered intraperitoneally (25,...
متن کاملEffect of alcoholic extract of ginger (Zingiber Officinale Roscoe) on mechanical activity of isolated jejunum of male rat
Introduction: The ginger rhizome has been widely used in traditional medicine for treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. In the present study the effect of ginger alcoholic extract on mechanical activity of isolated jejunum of male rats and also its interaction with cholinergic, adrenergic and Nitrergic systems were investigated. Methods: Seven adult male Wistar rats were anesthetized by et...
متن کاملBeta-3 adrenergic receptor agonists cause an increase in gastrointestinal transit time in wild-type mice, but not in mice lacking the beta-3 adrenergic receptor.
The effects of beta-3 adrenergic receptor (beta3-AR) agonists on gastrointestinal (GI) motility, as reported by stomach retention and intestinal transit of radiolabelled charcoal, were compared in wild-type (WT) mice and in transgenic mice lacking beta3-AR (beta3-AR[KO]) or having beta3-AR in white and brown adipose tissue only (beta3-AR[WAT+BAT]). After s.c. administration of 3 mg/kg of the se...
متن کاملEffects of three beta adrenergic receptor agonists on growth performance, blood biochemical parameters, fatty acids composition and carnitine palmitoyltransferase I gene expression of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss
Different beta 1 and 2 adrenergic receptor agonists may be various biological and physiological effects on fish species. An experiment was designed to study the effects of feeding ractopamine, terbutaline and metaproterenol; as beta1, beta2 and less selective beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonists, respectively; on body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, concentration of biochemical parameters in...
